Some Cambridge residents have to wait until 2017 to learn whether a proposed townhouse development will be built in their neighbourhood.

City councillors voted Tuesday night to defer any decision on the proposed development at 408 Guelph Avenue until January.

“It’s all about getting the residents together with the developer to talk about some kind of compromise,” Coun. Mike Mann said after the vote.

People who live in the area have voiced concerns about the size of the development, given that the neighbourhood is predominantly filled with detached homes.

A related application for a zone change for the property was also deferred until January.
