TORONTO -- Canadian water-skier Whitney McClintock won gold in the women's slalom event at the Pan Am Games on Thursday.
She finished first in the six-skier field at Ontario Place West Channel.
McClintock won gold a day earlier in the overall competition. She was also entered in the tricks final and the jump final later in the day.
Her first-place finish gave Canada its 65th gold at these Games, setting a new national Pan Am record. The previous record of 64 gold medals was set in Winnipeg in 1999.
McClintock returned to the dock area a short time later to watch her brother, Jason McClintock, win silver in the men's slalom. He's also tabbed to compete in the tricks competition in the afternoon.
