Waterloo Regional Police have released an image of a man they believe is connected to a hit-and-run crash that killed a Cambridge man.

Paul Lalonde, 49, was killed Nov. 26 when he was hit by two vehicles while crossing Cedar Street at the Westgate Plaza.

The second vehicle to hit him remained at the scene. The first vehicle, which police have described as a white pickup truck, did not.

The truck is believed to be either a Ford Excursion with a model year between 2000 and 2002, or a Ford F-250, F-350 or F-550 super duty from 1999 to 2001. It has a cap on its back.

Police have been canvassing the area around the plaza and the nearby apartment building Lalonde lived in regularly since the collision.

They say their investigation has led them to a man who “is believed to drive, or have access to, a white pickup truck.”

The man is described as being white and likely in his late 40s. Police say he has “a ruddy complexion, round face with jowls, stubble and unshaven, thin lips, a wider set nose, auburn/grey peppered hair, which was short with bangs, and a disheveled appearance.”

He was also seen wearing a black jacket which may have been made of leather or plastic, police say.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 519-653-7700 ext. 8666 or contact Crime Stoppers.
