A 72-year-old man faces criminal and Highway Traffic Act charges following a crash in Guelph which saw a Kitchener family’s vehicle end up colliding with a house.

Shortly after 3 p.m. Sunday, the 72-year-old was northbound on Yorkshire Street, near Paisley Street, when he allegedly ran a red light.

Proceeding through the intersection, Guelph Police say, his vehicle hit another vehicle, which was carrying a family with young twin boys.

The family’s vehicle was pushed into a house, causing approximately $50,000 in damage.

After a brief stop, the 72-year-old left the scene. He was later tracked down by police at his home.

Minor injuries were reported, with nobody taken to hospital.
