Police say a fight broke out at a house party in Waterloo and ended with two men being stabbed and sent to hospital early Sunday.

The altercation occurred on Pinemeadow Cres. at about 3:00 a.m. and involved two groups of men who were known to each other, according to police.

Several men left the party, and police say, when they later returned, one of them was armed.

Two men were then stabbed with a knife and badly injured.

Police say one victim was airlifted to Hamilton General Hospital and was listed in critical but stable condition.

The other was taken to a local hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

“There were so many officers on scene and so many cars,” said Christopher East, who lives nearby. “They had flashlights looking around the windows and around the house.”

Several other people suffered less severe injuries during the fight and required minor medical attention.

Police say a number of men have been arrested and are facing charges, adding there is no concern for public safety.
