High winds that damaged a barn roof near Thamesford were strong enough to be considered a tornado, Environment Canada says.

The barn was damaged during stormy weather on April 11. Trees and hydro poles were also taken down.

Environment Canada said Thursday that the damage had been caused by an EF-1 tornado, with peak winds of up to 150 km/h.

They believe the tornado’s path was 11 kilometres long and 200 metres wide.
