A Guelph man faces charges of assault, assault with a weapon and breach of probation following a stabbing in the city’s west end.

Around 11:50 p.m., police were called to a Deerpath Drive home.

A 30-year-old man at that residence had been stabbed multiple times, and made his way to the home to get help.

As of Tuesday morning, he was said to be in critical but stable condition at a Hamilton hospital.

Police tracked down and arrested a suspect at a different home on Deerpath.

Cristian Hercules, 34, was expected to appear in court Tuesday.

Police tape remained up Tuesday morning at one home on Deerpath, although it was not clear exactly what connection that home had to the case.

Both people involved in the stabbing knew each other, police say.
