Their idol wasn’t there, so they posed with his lawyer.

Justin Bieber’s first court date in Stratford drew a small crowd of fans of the hometown pop star.

Bieber himself didn’t appear, with lawyer Brian Greenspan there on his behalf.

On Greenspan’s way out of the courthouse, he was approached by a group of young girls seeking a photo with him.

“We thought Justin would be here, so we came here,” said one of the girls, Lisa Neves.

Bieber faces charges of assault and dangerous driving in connection with an incident that occurred in August, in a rural area near Shakespeare.

Police allege that Bieber was driving his ATV in the area when he became involved in an altercation with the driver of another vehicle.

At the time, Greenspan blamed the incident on the “unwelcome presence of the paparazzi” during Bieber’s trip home.

The case returns to court Oct. 27 – but according to Greenspan, Bieber won’t be present in person on that day either.

“These are routine appearances. They’re administrative. The person charged never appears,” he said.
