A Brantford man is under arrest, for allegedly sparking three fires in one square block in Brantford.

Police were called to a house fire around 4 a.m. in the morning.

No one was hurt, but the alleged arsonist did extensive damage to the property that was torched. Police say the man started the fire in the kitchen of the home, after an argument at a party. The homeowners weren’t present when the fire started, but they helped evacuate neighbours when they returned.

At a separate location, a boat and car were also lit on fire.

The Brantford man is facing multiple arson-related charges.

“There's an arson endangering life for (the house fire), and two counts of arson for the other fires that were set,” says Brantford Police Inspector Scott Easto.

The man's name is being withheld until he appears before a judge. The charge of arson with disregard to a human life is punishable by up to life in prison.
