A third person has been arrested in connection with the weekend stabbing death of 22-year-old Joseph Batten in Cambridge.
A Canada-wide warrant had been issued for Larry William Seth, 22, of Hamilton Thursday morning, and he was arrested within hours without incident in that city.
Seth faces a second degree murder charge in connection with the death of Batten outside the Masonic Temple in Cambridge early Saturday morning.
According to police a fight broke out outside the venue where a hip-hop concert had been taking place and a knife was used.
Waterloo Regional Police Staff Sgt. Chris Downey says "What began by all indications as a dispute, one on a couple of individuals, spread where others joined in and sides were taken and we know there was, in that melee, there was some weapon of opportunity, i.e. a stone brick, that sort of thing, hurled in that dispute."
Batten died of multiple stab wounds and at least two other people received minor cuts during the fight.
Wayne David Moore, 21, known as ‘Young Drone,' also faces a charge of second degree murder in the Dec. 17 altercation.
He turned himself in on Wednesday night to Waterloo Region homicide detectives at a Hamilton police station and made a court appearance on Thursday.
Crown prosecutor Mark Poland says "Mr. Moore made his first appearance today in the Ontario Court of Justice before a Justice of the Peace, who remanded him to be dealt with by the Superior Court of Justice as the law requires."
Moore will return to court on Jan. 30 and Seth is set to appear on Friday.
Madison Doyle, 18, who was arrested in the case earlier this week and faces a charge of accessory after the fact to murder, is also expected to appear in court on Friday.
Police say all three suspects knew each other and all remain in custody.
Police continue to investigate and Downey says "We believe there are more arrests coming. I'm not sure exactly how, as the investigation plays out, how many that will be. I'm anticipating at least one."
Anyone with information related to this incident is asked to contact the Waterloo Regional Police Service homicide branch at 519-650-8500 Ext. 8642 or Crime Stoppers 1-800-222-8477.
