KITCHENER -- Waterloo regional police continue to investigate two shootings in the past three days in Kitchener.
The first happened Monday evening near Kinzie Avenue and Thaler Avenue, in the Chicopee area.
The latest was Wednesday in the middle of the day on Ingleside Drive, in the Victoria Hills area.
In the Ingleside incident, police now say two victims were in a vehicle when they were approached by two male suspects.
A physical altercation followed where one man was shot and another assaulted. Police say the suspects then stole the vehicle and fled the area.
When officers located the stolen vehicle, police say the driver struck a police cruiser while attempting to flee then took off on foot.
Officials located one suspect a short distance away and arrested the other in a nearby green space.
Both victims were taken to hospital, one with serious injuries and the other with minor injuries.
Police seized a firearm and arrested a 23-year-old and 22-year-old man in relation to the incident.
A 23-year-old is charged with robbery with a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, careless use of a firearm and discharge firearm with intent to wound.
A 22-year-old man is charged with robbery with a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm and careless use of a firearm.
The shooting on Wednesday has left residents shaken and concerned.
"It doesn't feel as safe as it used to be," said area resident Ron Cormier.
"I'm going to be more careful. I don't normally go walking at night anyway but I mean this happened in the middle of the day, anybody could've been out," said Jeanne Delaney, who lives nearby.
Margaret Fiselier and Theo Kooistra often have their grandchildren visit their home, but after Wednesday's shooting on their street, they're thinking about moving.
"I heard a large bang inside. I thought this was a nice neighbourhood, but if they start shooting here I don't know if I'm going to stay this long," Fiselier said.
As for the incident near Kinzie and Thaler on Monday, police said they found evidence a gun had been fired, but whoever was involved fled before they arrived.
There were no reports of injuries in that incident. Police have not yet released a suspect description.
Neighbours also say they're feeling unsettled, especially considering how many children live in the area.
"I don't let them out anymore unless I'm watching like a hawk," said area resident Terri Jarvis.
"I usually keep my front door open but now I'm going to be more cautious keeping it closed," said Mildred Lee.
Waterloo regional police can't confirm whether either incident was gang-related.
"At this point, I have no information that can confirm that," said Const. Andre Johnson.
Both incidents remain under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers.
