ORANGEVILLE, Ont. - Ontario Provincial Police are delivering a blunt message to the man who killed a 42-year-old Orangeville nurse last August.
Const. Peter Leon says police have his DNA, and it's only a matter of time before he is identified.
Leon says investigators are hoping to narrow the list of suspects by collecting voluntary DNA samples from men who either knew Varaschin or came in contact with her before she died.
He said Wednesday it could take up to three weeks to collect the samples, but can't say now long it will take to get the results. Leon says he would expect anyone with nothing to hide to provide a sample.
Varaschin was reported missing Aug. 30 after she failed to show up at work and her blood-stained Toyota Corolla was found in an alley. Police also found blood inside and outside her home.
Her remains were discovered in a wooded area in Caledon, about 12 kilometres from Orangeville.
"We will continue to investigate until the killer of Sonia Varaschin is located, apprehended and placed before the judicial system," Leon said.
