ContactOctober 2021: Tyler Calver is no longer with CTV Kitchener
Tyler Calver joined the CTV Kitchener news team in October 2014, bringing with him a wealth of broadcasting knowledge and experience.
A graduate of the Assiniboine Community College in Brandon, Man., Tyler got his first taste of broadcasting working as a news videojournalist in Swift Current, Sask., at CFJB-TV.
He then moved across the province and spent almost three years as a videojournalist at CTV News in Yorkton, Sask., covering both news and sports.
From there he headed to his home province of Manitoba to spend five years as a photojournalist with Global News in Winnipeg, working as a sports anchor and reporter.
After a brief stint at CBC Winnipeg, Tyler moved to Ontario where he spent six years as Sports Director at CHEX-TV in Peterborough. While there, he developed a strong connection with the community and volunteered for numerous charitable fundraising events.
While heavily involved in the Peterborough sports scene, Tyler’s passion for news broadcasting brought him back to the CTV family where he is ready, willing and able to take on any task. Tyler can be found taking on several different roles at CTV Kitchener, from covering breaking news, to presenting weekend weather or filling in on the sports anchor desk.
In his spare time, Tyler enjoys all kinds of outdoor activities, playing hockey, and running. Tyler is looking forward to setting roots in Waterloo Region and will most certainly be looking to help promote local charities in the area.
