Over fifty percent of Canadians say they or a family member have needed blood, according to Canadian Blood Services.

In order to help meet that demand, two University of Waterloo employees have made giving blood a part of their regular routine.

Today, Terry Ridgway and Fred Bakker are celebrating milestones in their schedules. Ridgway is marking his 200th donation, Fred his 100th.

"I'm only in here for the cookies," jokes Ridgway.

Their donations have helped the lives of about 900 people.

However, Canadian Blood Services say about 1,400 people need blood daily.
