If you’ve ever wanted to own a piece of one of the earliest roads in Waterloo, now’s your chance.
Just make sure you get it before it’s gone – either due to demand or decay.
Logs from the corduroy road found beneath King Street in uptown Waterloo are now available for the taking at Gate 2 of the landfill on Erb Street West.
The first two loads of logs were left at the landfill Monday, with more expected to arrive in the coming days.
After the road was discovered, construction was halted on King for more than a month as archeologists were brought in to examine and document its extent.
Corduroy roads were built by some of the area’s earliest settlers, mainly over stretches of land which were swampy or otherwise difficult to cross.
