Cyclist airlifted after crash in Waterloo
A cyclist has been airlifted to hospital after a collision involving a vehicle Wednesday morning in Waterloo.
Police say emergency services responded to the crash at the intersection of Weber Street North and Marshall Street around 7:35 a.m.
The cyclist, a 44-year-old man from Waterloo, was taken to an out-of-region hospital with serious injuries.
Police say driver of the vehicle, a 65-year-old Waterloo woman, did not report any physical injuries.
"I think there should be something done to widen up the roads here," a pedestrian in the area of the crash told CTV News. "It's pretty dangerous with lots of traffic. There should be something done soon because people are getting hurt."
Sections of Weber Street North and Marshall Street were closed for several hours while police investigated but have since reopened.
Police used a remotely piloted vehicle to assist with the investigation.
Anyone with information or who may have witnessed the collision is asked to contact police.
