It’s not unusual for the Blackbridge Road bridge in north Cambridge to be closed during the spring – but normally that’s because of flooding, not potential damage to the bridge itself.

Waterloo Regional Police say the bridge was hit Monday evening by a piece of farm machinery that was travelling between two farms.

As a result, the bridge was closed until inspectors are able to take a look at it.

The man driving the piece of machinery, a 19-year-old Elmira resident, has been charged with careless driving.
