It’s been a tense battle between Uber drivers and traditional cabs since Uber came to Waterloo Region.

Police say a confrontation between two drivers ended in charges after a cabbie alleges he was struck by an Uber car, knocking him to the ground.

The incident happened near Kitchener city hall. No injuries were reported.

The driver was trying to take a picture of the license plate on the Uber car after he was hit.

The Uber car fled the scene and allegedly ran two red lights before he was located by police.

Police say a 55-year-old Cambridge man is now facing charges including dangerous driving and assault with a weapon.
