TORONTO - The governor of Michigan will discuss a planned second bridge between Windsor and Detroit during a trip to Toronto Monday.

Rick Snyder is scheduled to discuss the crossing at a conference in the city and meet with Premier Dalton McGuinty.

Synder is also expected to announce a pact with other Great Lakes governors on a virtual Canada trade office.

The visit comes after a potential obstacle to building the bridge was scrapped by the Michigan electorate.

Voters in the state rejected a proposal for a referendum approving construction of the bridge, which would relieve traffic from the Ambassador Bridge.

The owner of that bridge backed the failed proposal and has fiercely opposed the proposed second, Canada-funded crossing.
