After a month of exciting and surprising World Cup action, Germany reigned victorious, winning the 2014 World Cup trophy.

Local German fans couldn’t be happier.

Even before the game began, 300 fans at Concordia Club in Kitchener were turned away.

“Our friends have actually saved us seats but we have no wrist band so we are not getting in,” said one fan.

The club was at capacity with over 400 German fans.

This isn't the first time Argentina and Germany have gone head-to-head. Last time it was in 1990 when Germany won the cup. Four years earlier it was Argentines.

For most the game the tension was palpable, with Germans fans wanting a win.

“Look at all these beautiful German people here. It gets us all in the mood, all together. They’re in Brazil and they need our support,” said local fan Brian Schmolling.

It seems that support paid off, as Germany wins the first world cup in 24 years.
