A truck driver tried to get away after hitting a light pole in Guelph, police say – but he didn’t get very far.
The collision occurred around 1:45 p.m. Monday, near the intersection of Woolwich Street and Eramosa Road, as the truck was towing a motor home.
After hitting the pole, which received a fair bit of damage, the driver allegedly continued driving along Eramosa.
A few minutes later, police caught up with the truck further north of Eramosa, just past Speedvale Avenue, where its driver had pulled over to deal with a flat tire.
The driver faces charges of careless driving, failure to remain at the scene of a collision and carrying an oversized load.
