Protestors in Waterloo are calling on the Canadian government to denounce Israel’s military actions in Gaza.

Dozens of Palestinian Canadians, and their supporters, demonstrated in uptown Waterloo Friday evening, carrying signs and flags.

The rally comes as Israel says it will intensify its ground offensive against Hamas, after rejecting a U.S. brokered ceasefire deal.

Both sides did agree to a twelve hour pause in fighting starting Saturday. More Palestinians died Friday in clashes with Israeli police in east Jerusalem and the West Bank. The death toll has now surpassed 800 in 18 days of fighting.

“It’s really saddening to see. The world is standing by while innocent humans are getting butchered left and right for no crime whatsoever. It’s unbelievable, there are no words to express the pain one feels for their human kind,” said one Waterloo protestor.

The protestors hope to raise awareness and are calling on the Canadian government to take notice about what is happening overseas.
