Following the arrest, the man was taken to hospital. A black hoodie and a beer can were left at the scene. Blood was also visible on the ground.

Mill Street investigation

Waterloo Regional Police say they had been looking for the 35-year-old man in connection with an attack involving an axe on William Street in Waterloo about an hour earlier, which resulted in one man being taken to hospital with a hand injury.

Police have said that the two men involved in that incident knew each other prior to the attack.

The SIU has assigned five investigators to the case, and wants to hear from anyone who may have information or video that could help them piece together what happened.

The 35-year-old man was expected to appear in court on Wednesday. Police said that they found an axe at the scene of his arrest.
