Two men were taken into custody over the weekend after a replica firearm and a BB gun were pointed at people in Kitchener in separate incidents.

The first incident occurred around 3 a.m. Saturday, outside a bar on King Street East.

According to Waterloo Regional Police, one man grabbed a handgun out of his vehicle and pointed it at a crowd of people.

Police say they were able to track the man down and arrest him in connection with both this incident and a previous case involving threats made in the downtown area.

Although the man lives in the Greater Toronto Area, police say he had been spending time recently in local hotels.

His weapon was found to be a metal revolver capable of firing BBs, police said.

The second incident occurred Sunday, around Courtland Avenue and Ottawa Street.

In this case, police say, a man driving a vehicle was seen pointing a weapon at other vehicles.

Police located the vehicle in question and arrested all three people inside.

Two of the three were later released from custody unconditionally, while the third faces charges including pointing a firearm, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and possessing marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.

The weapon turned out to be a replica airsoft carbine rifle.
