A lot of people face charges over the seizure of a lot of beer before a planned St. Patrick’s Day party.

Waterloo Regional Police confirm that 14 people now face charges in connection with the seizure.

The charges, which include unlawfully keeping liquor for sale and unlawfully offering liquor for sale, were laid earlier this month.

One day before St. Patrick’s Day, police searched a house on Columbia Street following a lead found via social media.

Once inside, they found and removed 4,400 cans of beer purchased to be served at the Wilfrid Laurier University’s Loyal Order of the Water Buffaloes’ annual March 17 party, which was planned without a liquor permit.

Police did not release the names of those charged, but say the group includes 10 men and four women, all in their early 20s.

They will appear in court in May.

All charges they face were laid under the Liquor Licence Act, and have no set fines.
