It’s the busiest year this decade for the residential real estate market in Kitchener, Waterloo and surround townships, and it shows no signs of letting up.

According to statistics released Thursday by the Kitchener-Waterloo Association of Realtors, 570 properties changed hands in July.

While that’s only a marginal increase over the 564 sales recorded in July 2014, it’s the most seen in this area in a July since 2008.

The bulk of the homes sold in July – 356 in all – were detached homes, but that figure actually represents a 5.1 per cent decrease from 2014.

Sales of semi-detached, townhome and condominium units all rose as compared to the previous year.

Through seven months, there have been 3,525 residential properties sold in Kitchener, Waterloo, Wellesley, Wilmot and Woolwich.

That figure represents a 7.1 per cent increase over 2014, and the highest year-to-date total since 2008.
