Fire destroys home in Haldimand County

A home in Haldimand County has been destroyed after a Saturday afternoon fire.

The Haldimand County Ontario Provincial Police and Haldimand County first responders were called to Lakeshore Road, in the town of Selkirk, at around 1:34 p.m.

A home in the area was fully engulfed in flames and destroyed, police said.

All five people living in the home were able to escape however, one person was sent to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The road was closed between Reicheld Avenue and Kohler Road for several hours and has since reopened.

An investigation into the fire continues.

OPP said that it is not being treated as suspicious.
