Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning for Waterloo Region and southern Ontario.

Heavy rain at times is expected starting Sunday evening into Monday afternoon; total rainfall amounts of 25 to 50 mm are expected.

Environment Canada says there is also a risk of an isolated thunderstorm overnight into early Monday morning for southwestern Ontario.

Rainfall warnings are issued when 25 mm or more of rain is expected within 24 hours, when the ground is frozen or saturated, and has a reduced ability to absorb this rain, according to Environment Canada.

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.

  • Simcoe - Delhi - Norfolk
  • Dunnville - Caledonia - Haldimand

The Grand River Conservation Authority has issued a flood watch for the Grand River watershed, as the warmer weather and rain raise the risk of flooding.

The GRCA say the highest potential for floods exisit in around traditional areas like Elora, New Hamburg, Ayr, Grand Valley and Drayton.
