TORONTO - The party leaders will campaign in the Greater Toronto Area Friday after spending Thursday spread across the province.

Premier Dalton McGuinty is in Newmarket to tour the Flextronics solar panel plant. He then meets with Indian actor-producer Akshay Kumar and the head of Alliance-Atlantis. Later in the evening he is to deliver greetings to the International Muslims Organization in west Toronto.

CUPE Ontario is actively encouraging its members to support the NDP in the Oct. 6 provincial election.

On the campaign trail Thursday, the Liberals and Conservatives sparred over a Liberal promise to help a relative handful of newcomers to Canada find work.

The Tories said the Liberals are ignoring the plight of the province's unemployed in an effort to score political points with new Canadians.

The Liberals accused the Conservatives of stoking anti-immigrant sentiment by rejecting the proposal for a tax credit of up to $10,000 to offset training costs for employers who hire professionals.

Hudak, who was campaigning in eastern Ontario, admitted he doesn't speak French, but will make "every effort" to learn the language if he becomes premier.

In southwestern Ontario, McGuinty warned tens of thousands of new clean energy jobs in Ontario would be put at risk if the Conservatives are elected.

Horwath was in northern Ontario, where she promised to create a northern Ontario committee at the legislature which would investigate issues such as forestry, energy and mining.
