Police continue to search for the driver who struck and killed Jordan Gillis.

It has been four weeks since the 29-year-old was found in the middle of the intersection of Austin Drive and Hazel Street in Waterloo in the early morning hours of October 20.

Saturday his friends gathered to lay flowers where he was killed.

“I will think of him often with a smile because of all I got to share with him.” Sarah Smith says of her friend.

“I don’t know when closure is actually going to come.” Zach Britton says.

Police have released surveillance footage of the vehicle they believe could be involved; a Dodge Caliber or a Jeep Patriot, Compass, Wrangler or Liberty.  They have been searching through Ministry of Transportation databases looking for matching local vehicles.  So far, no arrests have been made.

“The thing to do is come forward to the police.  Tell us what happened and clear this whole thing up.” Waterloo Regional Police Staff Sgt. Scott Diefenbaker told CTV News on Nov. 4th.

Gillis’ friends are urging the driver of the vehicle to come forward.

“The one thing he (Jordan) did ask, from anybody, is that they take responsibility for their actions.” Britton says.
