The trial of a man accused of killing eight-year-old Victoria Stafford is hearing that he felt police were treating him as guilty by association.

A former girlfriend of Michael Rafferty is testifying today that he often talked about a "friend" named Terri.

Terri-Lynne McClintic is serving a life sentence after pleading guilty to first-degree murder in Tori's death and Rafferty has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder, sexual assault causing bodily harm and kidnapping.

Court has heard that police started investigating McClintic very soon after Tori went missing on April 8, 2009, but didn't interview Rafferty until May 15.

Jessica Meloche, one of at least 13 women Rafferty was dating in the spring of 2009 -- including seven he started dating after April 8 -- testified that Rafferty called her after the police interviewed him.

She says Rafferty felt he was being treated as "guilty by association" with McClintic, whom he described as a family friend.
