TORONTO - Elementary teachers and support staff can now vote on a tentative agreement that took negotiators more than a year to reach.

The Ontario government and the Elementary Teachers Association of Ontario (ETFO) announced Nov. 2 that they had reached a tentative agreement.

Teachers and classroom support staff had been without a contract since August 2014, and they began a work-to-rule campaign since the beginning of the school year.

ETFO recommended teachers stop their work-to-rule campaign last week.

Voting on the contract opened Sunday, and will close Thursday.
