OTTAWA - Premier Dalton McGuinty is disputing a Conference Board of Canada prediction that Ontario won't be able to balance its budget for a decade.

The Ottawa-based economic think-tank says Ontario will need to rein in health-care cost increases if it wants to balance the books by 2022.

It says potential sustainable economic growth for Ontario is dropping to 1.9 per cent a year.

And board chief economist Glen Hodgson says if Ontario residents want the health care system to continue to grow, they'll most likely face higher taxes.

But McGuinty says his Liberal government will balance the budget by 2017.

And in Kitchener Thursday, McGuinty said he will not raise taxes.
