An 8-year-old boy was able to escape with only minor injuries after becoming pinned under a vehicle in Elora.

Wellington County OPP say Tye Sanderson was walking home from school shortly after 3:30 p.m. Friday when he was hit by a slow-moving Ford Fusion at the intersection of Kertland and Church streets, near Elora Public School.

Sanderson became trapped under the vehicle and firefighters had to raise the Fusion off the ground using the jaws of life so paramedics could attend to him.

Sanderson was taken to Groves Memorial Hospital and is listed as having minor injuries.

The vehicle did not suffer any significant damage.

Police say they continue to investigate.
