Police haven’t made any arrests in connection with a case of vandalism at a car dealership in St. Marys – but they say they have a pretty good idea who they’re looking for.
Saturday morning, Phil West arrived at All Roads Dodge to find that something had been scratched into one of his vehicles.
He then found similar messages on three other vehicles.
The messages generally contained profanity and satanic symbols, with at least two names being scratched in as well.
“That’s just senseless vandalism,” West said in an interview.
“It hurts your heart a little bit that this sort of stuff gets done, because you know it’s local kids.”
Surveillance footage showed that three boys on BMX-type bikes were responsible for the damage, having arrived at the dealership shortly before 11 p.m. last Friday.
Police believe that the trio are boys in their early teens.
Two were wearing white shirts – one of them also had a baseball cap with a straight visor – and the third was in a dark shirt.
“This isn’t a petty crime. This is criminal mischief,” said Const. Kees Wijnands of the Perth County OPP.
“The maximum sentence could be up to 10 years in jail.”
West estimates the cost of repairing the damaged vehicles at about $2,000.
