TORRANCE, Calif. - A judge in Torrence, Calif., has ordered an Orange County man to stand trial on charges he strangled a Canadian nurse more than 30 years ago.

Local media reports say Douglas Gordon Bradford, 58, is scheduled for arraignment on murder and using a deadly weapon on Nov. 30.

Bradford is accused of killing his 28-year-old ex-girlfriend Lynne Knight with a garrote and stabbing her more than 15 times at her apartment in August 1979.

Knight was born in Wetaskiwin, Alta., and grew up in Stratford, Ont., before she moved to California.

Bradford, who is out on $1 million bail, was arrested in May 2009 after the case was re-examined by Torrence police.
