A third farm in Oxford County has been hit by avian flu.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency confirmed Saturday a turkey farm has tested positive for the H5 strain of the virus.

The tests were done by the Animal Health Laboratory at the University of Guelph. The samples are now being examined at a CFIA lab for official confirmation.

An estimated 8,000 turkeys will be euthanized.

The CFIA says the latest farm had been under quarantine since April 19.

Avian flu was first found almost three weeks ago on an Oxford County farm, and was found on a second farm last week.

45,000 turkeys and 27,000 chickens have been culled on those two farms.
