Thick smoke was visible across a section of central Kitchener on Tuesday.
Firefighters were first called to a home on Clark Avenue, near Seibert Avenue, around 3 p.m.
They encountered a fire that appeared to have started in a van before also beginning to consume the home’s carport.
“Before we could get a good hold on it, wind fanned it and it spread to the house next door,” Greg Willet of the Kitchener Fire Department told CTV News.
Fire crews were able to extinguish the flames with structural damage confined primarily to the roofs of the two homes.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
No injuries were reported.
