BURLINGTON, Ont. -- Ontario Provincial Police have identified the victim in a fatal wrong-way crash Saturday morning on Highway 403 in Burlington.

Police say Ryan Powless, 29, of Hamilton, was pronounced dead at the scene after the car he was driving was struck head-on by a pickup truck driving the wrong way on the highway at about 3:30 a.m.

The driver of the pickup, 35-year-old Ricardo Cabral, of Brampton, suffered minor injuries and faces numerous charges including impaired driving causing death and dangerous driving.

After the initial collision, police say the car was struck again by a transport truck.

A 20-year-old female passenger from Toronto was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say Cabral is being held pending a bail hearing, and they want to hear from anyone with information on the collision.
