BURLINGTON, Ont. -- A 35-year-old Brampton, Ont. man has been charged in connection with a fatal crash Saturday morning on Highway 403 in Burlington.

Ontario Provincial Police responded to a call of a serious collision involving a vehicle driving the wrong way on the highway at about 3:30 a.m.

Police say a Ford F150 pickup truck driven by a man into oncoming traffic struck a Nissan 350z.

After the initial collision, police say the Nissan was struck again by a transport truck.

A 29-year-old man from Hamilton, Ont. who was driving the Nissan was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 20-year-old female passenger from Toronto was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say the driver of the pickup truck, Ricardo Cabral, suffered minor injuries and faces numerous charges including but not limited to impaired driving causing death and dangerous driving.

He is being held pending a bail hearing on the allegations and anyone with information on the collision is asked to contact police.
