Early Friday morning was busy for firefighters in the Mitchell area.
They were called to a fire at Perth County’s snow plow storage garage on Napier Street in Mitchell.
Officials believe the fire started in one of the truck bays inside the building.
One snow plow and two pickup trucks inside were destroyed. Damage is estimated at more than a half a million dollars.
Crews from Perth East and Sebringville Fire Departments were called to the scene just before 2 a.m. Fire Chief Bill Hunter says they were able to extinguish it quickly but the cold weather made things quite difficult.
Officials say they don’t believe the fire is suspicious but the Ontario Fire Marshal’s office has been called in because damages are estimated to be over $500,000.
