A cube van that caught fire Wednesday night may have had a person living in it.

Waterloo Regional Police and Cambridge firefighters were called to the van, parked outside a building on Montrose Street in Cambridge’s Preston neighbourhood, around 8 p.m. by a passerby who could see flames.

The fire was contained to the back of the vehicle and extinguished.

Police say there were signs somebody may have been living in the back of the area.

Neither police nor the passerby who called the fire in saw anybody in the area at the time of the fire, but police believe it may be connected to a suspicious fire set previously across the street.

No suspects have been identified.
