The death of a 53-year-old Cambridge woman is connected to a fatal crash south of Guelph, Waterloo Regional Police say.

Waterloo Regional Police say Andrea Normore was the woman found dead at a Glamis Road townhouse late Friday night.

At the time, police said that they were contacted by a concerned family member, who believed that Normore may have suffered a medical emergency.

Courtney Rawson, who lives at the same townhouse complex, told CTV News she heard a woman “screaming and crying” from elsewhere in the area.

“It’s terrifying, knowing it happened right next door,” she said.

Police say they have determined that Normore was killed by Timothy Byrne – a 44-year-old Cambridge resident who died about 10 hours before Normore’s body was discovered.

They are not saying how she was killed, beyond that they have no concerns for public safety.

Byrne died after becoming involved in a two-vehicle collision on Wellington Road 32 in Puslinch Township.

The other vehicle involved in the collision was being driven by a 35-year-old Cambridge resident. Wellington County OPP said Monday that he had been released from hospital.

Investigators believe Byrne drove away from Cambridge after killing Normore.

Byrne and Normore had known each other for three years, police said.

By Monday afternoon, police tape had been taken down from outside the townhouse on Glamis.

Relatives of Normore were present, but declined comment to CTV News and asked for privacy.
