The trial began today for two people behind Cambridge based Imagine Adoption. The international adoption agency went bankrupt five years ago, and key executives Rick and Susan Hayhow are accused of several counts of fraud.
Police charged the couple in 2011, after a 2 year investigation.
In 2009, the agency filed for bankruptcy, leaving about 400 Canadian families in adoption limbo. It's alleged the couple used about $420,000 for personal use.
Today marks the beginning of jury selection, and lawyers are going through a panel of 300 people.
This morning, jury members heard some of the alleged fraudulent funds were used on Town and Country Fencing, Canadian Home Renovation Team and company credit cards.
The jury selection wass expected to last all day.
