A missing Guelph man in his 90s was found quickly Wednesday morning using signal locating technology.

Victim Services Wellington personnel were able to find a 94-year-old man from Guelph, whose daughter reported him missing at 9:51 a.m, from an address in the area of Victoria Road North and Cassino Avenue.

Guelph Police said the man’s daughter was concerned for his well-being as he suffers from cognitive impairment.

According to police, the man was registered with a program called Project Lifesaver, which helped find him at another home in the area 34 minutes after the initial call to police.

According to the Project Lifesaver International website, the project is a search and rescue program used internationally by public safety groups. It’s designed for individuals who are more likely to wander and be put in life threatening circumstances.

Clients with the program wear a battery-operated bracelet that emits a unique FM radio signal 24 hours a day, allowing their location to be traceable.
