Const. Christopher Knox has been charged with voyeurism and breach of trust in connection with an on duty incident on Tuesday.
The four and half year member of the force allegedly "used a personal electronic device to photograph an individual without their knowledge," according to a police press release.
Police say the incident occurred while the uniformed officer was on duty and responding a call, and the alleged victim is an adult.
Knox was arrested immediately after the incident occurred, and released on a promise to appear. The North Divison officer has also been suspended from duty.
In a statement released Thursday, Waterloo Regional Police Chief Matt Torigian said "Our organization prides itself in remaining open and accountable to the residents of Waterloo Region. The alleged action of the officer does not meet the values of our Service or what is expected of us by our community."
An investigation by the Professional Standards Branch of the officer's conduct is ongoing.
Knox is scheduled to make a court appearance on June 1.
