Three people are facing charges following a police raid of a residence in southwest Waterloo early Wednesday morning.
According to police, emergency response officers were part of the team that executed a search warrant at a home on Churchill Court, near Erb Street and Fischer-Hallman Road, shortly after 6 a.m.
The warrant was obtained under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act as part of an ongoing investigation.
“Police received information that there was some potential for some drug activity taking place at this residence,” police spokesperson Olaf Heinzel told CTV.
Police say stolen property and illegal drugs, including methamphetamine, cocaine and cannabis resin, were seized from the residence.
“They’re still going through an inventory of a number of items that were located inside the residence, but among them include some high-end bicycles, some e-bikes and some electronics,” said Heinzel.
Nine people were taken into custody. Six of them were later released unconditionally, with three facing charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking and breach of probation.
All three suspects are in their mid-20s and residents of the home.
“Several of the individuals, it’s still to be determined as to whether they were actual residents there or just visitors,” said Heinzel.
The Humane Society were also called in to remove a large dog and a cat from the residence.
Neighbours say it’s not the first time they’ve seen police at the home.
Police remained on the scene for several hours, sorting through evidence.
