More than 30 offences were observed during a traffic enforcement blitz on the Conestoga Parkway during St. Patrick’s Day, police say.

According to the OPP Highway Safety Division – which patrols provincial highways in Waterloo Region – RIDE checks were conducted Tuesday night on parts of Highway 85, Highway 7-8 and Highway 8.

Those inspections resulted in one person being charged with impaired driving.

Two others were arrested for having high blood-alcohol levels, while seven were suspended for registering samples in the “warn range.”

Four young drivers were charged with having alcohol in their systems – something not allowed for any driver under the age of 22.

One person was also charged with refusing to provide a blood sample, police say, while two were charged with drug possession and 18 charges were laid for various provincial offences.
