Share

Provincial police say no one was injured after someone fired shots at a home in Fergus early Tuesday morning.

Officers responded to a weapons call on Millburn Boulevard around 1 a.m. According to a news release, an unknown person fired multiple rounds at a residential home.

There were occupants in the home at the time, but thankfully no one was injured, Wellington County OPP media officer Cst. Joshua Cunningham told CTV News.

Police said there are no concerns for public safety at this time, adding they’re currently processing evidence.

Cunningham acknowledged the incident is somewhat unusual for the area.

"Hunting and outdoor activities are kind of common place, but certainly not a regular situation in the built-up town of Fergus," he said.

Neighbours who spoke to CTV News on Tuesday were shocked.

"Fergus is a warm, friendly little town," said Linda Schroeder who lives nearby. "(I've) never heard of that before."

"I was completely in shock," said another neighbour. "I never would imagine anything like that would happen here."

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has security or dash camera footage is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
