A number of memorial services took place across southwestern Ontario to remember the victims of Monday's crash in Hampstead.

On Saturday, family and friends of Juan Castillo gathered in Kitchener to pay their final respects. Castillo was originally from Nicaragua, and while a large number in attendance did not know the man personally, many said they felt the family's loss.

"Everybody who came from Latin America or other countries, they come here sometimes alone, they don't have their families," says Felipe Rodriguez, the pastor of the church where many migrant workers came to worship.

"Sometimes, we are the family they need down here," he added.

On Friday night, another memorial service was held in Stratford at St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

The service was open to members of all faiths and had over 300 people in attendance.

"I felt in my heart that I had to be here to offer my prayers and sympathy to such a tragic accident to happen to so many lovely people," says visitor Joan Schnell.
